Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin XV – North Coast Brewing Company

From California’s North Coast Brewing Company out of  Fort Bragg comes their “Barrel-Aged Old Rasputin XV” a barrel aged version of the Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout.  This version was aged in Bourbon barrels.  The beer pours a opaque black with a brown head and was poured on Nitro.  The aroma consists of roasted malts, sweet vanilla and some bourbon.  The flavour is of roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, sweet creamy, bourbon, oak and some minor alcohol.  The alcohol content of this brew is 11.9% and the IBU is 38.  This makes the Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout look like an ordinary stout and if you know that beer you know that is not the case!  This is just an amazing beer.
