“Gonzo is big, bold, and beautiful like the man it was brewed in honor of, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Flavor notes: Roasted chocolate, coffee, and vanilla malt flavors balanced with a unique hop bite.” 9.2% ABV Imperial (Baltic) Porter

Purchased from The Fort in Fresno, California.

The bottle labels it as the 2012 vintage, but I can’t decipher an exact date.

The Pour: IMG_2497

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into my snifter. Gonzo is pitch black in color, with a dark brown/frothy head that dissipates quickly. A tiny amount of carbonation is visible, and light lacing is left throughout.

The Nose: IMG_2498

Aromas of deeply roasted malts, espresso, and bitter chocolate, with undertones of a dark fruit. It smells very much like a standard imperial stout.

The Mouth: IMG_2499

The body of this beer is on the thinner side, much more porter-like than imperial stout. Some carbonation is noticeable…
